Aarne

Johan Viktor Aarne (1863-1934) was born in Tampere, Finland, where he completed his apprenticeship with Johan Erik Hellsten. Between 1880 and 1890 he worked for Fabergé in August Wilhelm Holmström's workshop in St Petersburg. He returned to his hometown to obtain his title of Master and ran his own workshop there for a year. In 1891 he came back to St Petersburg, to work exclusively for Fabergé until 1904(signing "BA"). In 1904 Aarne sold his workshop and went back to Finland, running a successful goldsmithing workshop for another thirty years (signing "J.V.A").
